BMW E46 M43tu cylinder head rear coolant pipe removal, replacement DIY guide
This guide will show you how to change the coolant pipe on the rear of the cylinder head, a common item for breaking when they go brittle and/or leaking.
New part number can be found here, number 1. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...54&hg=11&fg=15
You will need to remove the pollen filter housing to gain easier access to the coolant pipe.
This had been leaking for a bit and was caught just in time.
Remove the heater pipe by prising the wire clip up with a small screwdriver or pick and then pulling the pipe off.
Next remove the smaller hose that is attached to the top.
Undo the 2x10mm headed bolts and pull the old pipe out and off.
A bit of dirt in there, but any remaining plastic has been removed.(Bits were broken off in there)
The damaged pipe, it has seen better days and was very brittle, the O ring was knackered!
The new pipe.
The new pipe fitted. New Jubilee clip for good measure.
All that is left to do now is put the remaining bits back on and then bleed the cooling system, which instructions can be found here.
