Here you go guys, Ive done a couple of these now and thought I had better do a guide....
This is the best way I have found to retro fit one of these, Its not too bad to do and make the car more comfortable.
Any questions please ask....
Start, with no armrest.
First job is to strip the armrest down to its parts, It is possible to install them without taking the rest off but is much easier with it in pieces.
Next remove the front and rear ashtrays, these are held in by two phillips screws in the bottom of the ashtrays. Remember to disconnect the bulb in the front ashtray when its removed..
Next, remove the handbrake gaiter, pull it out of the console and the gaiter itself is attached to the handbrake by a cable tie.
Pull up the gear gaiter and then reach in and push the hazard switch up out of the console to reveal a phillips screw holding the front of the console in.
Remove that screw and the screw at the rear of the console.
Then lift out the console.
Now you can see where the bracket will have to go.
You will now have to cut the carpet or the armrest will not fit, also you need to find the 3rd bolthole.
In this pic you will see how much carpet needs to be cut and the screwdriver shows the location of the threaded hole
Now slacken off the handbrake cable adjusters and remove the old rear console bracket. Also remove the 2 13mm headed bolts that secure the handbrake lever.
You will now need 3 longer 13mm headed bolts with large washers as the originals will be too short.
Now place the bracket in position over the handbrake and secure the 3 mounting bolts. The handbrake lever is now sandwiched between the bracket and the floor.
Now swap over all the retaining clips, so you can screw the new console down.
Install the new console over the bracket and screw the console down.
Now install the armrest itself.
And now put the front trim in place.
And now fit the rear trim for the rear ashtray to sit in.
Now refit all your ashtrays, hazard switch and handbrake gaiter with a small cable tie.
Thats it. Job done, looking much better and more comfortable.
Hope this helps a bit. Any questions please ask....
