E46 Facelift. Changing your side repeaters

    Hi

Last year it wasn't possible to get smoked facelifted side repeaters so got my original ones painted. However, the paint made them a bit brown in colour as opposed to black. Wasn't too fussed as I had little choice at the time. Unfortunately the paint has started to peel around the edges so I thought it was time to sort them out.

However, @ Niall_farley was kind enough to post up an ebay link a couple of days ago. Joy! I bought them and they arrived today

Fitment was a doddle and took a couple of mins. The repeaters are held in place by a spring clip.

Just ensure the area around them is clean, then hold firmly around the edges and push the repeater back towards the rear of the car and then once you have felt them move back slightly, use a finger to carefully lift up the front end out towards you.

On my facelift, the plug only allows the repeater to be connected one way. Use a small flathead screwdriver to gently lift up the plastic clip and pull the repeater away from the electrical plug. Make sure the electrical plug does not fall back inside the car otherwise you may have some trouble retrieving it out again.

While they are out, you might as well clean the crud that has built up before fitting the new one. Connect up your new repeater and double check they work before you fit back properly. Reverse process to install back.

The new ones aren't quite as dark as my old and the centres are a bit more clear/white. However, the black around the edges does flow quite nicely with my paint and looks a bit more OEM. Plus, as the plastic itself is black, no chance of paint peel

Wasn't sure about the smoked side repeaters when you were talking about them the other day... I've now changed my mind, they look great, good work
