The only tools required to carry out the replacement of the E36 Pollen Filter are a Phillips Screwdriver! Oh and very flexible arms and spine!
Remove the screws shown in the picture below, there are also two more screws at the bottom of that panel which will need to be removed!
Remove the heater ducting, it should just pull off!
This is the ducting that I'm talking about!
The next part is far easier if you are a contortionist! You need to look down near the clutch pedal, and you should be able to see this!
Twist it to remove it and it'll come off like this!
Then the old filter will slide out!
You will notice that the frame of the old filter will appear to be broken, this is normal, as the new one will also require snapping in order to fit it! Seems strange i know, but this is correct!
Then slide it into the housing ensuring that the tab is towards you, before replacing the cap, ducting and trim! job done!
Hopefully now if you turn on the blower you should get blasted by the airflow!
