Couldn't really find any recent topics on this - apologies if this has been covered before..
One of the reasons for getting a new car and the 1er was for the added practicality of the 5 doors now my little boy is a bit older. I figured as I was changing car, I might as well have a look at what child seats were on offer and suitable for the new 1er. Although I have ISOFIX in my A3 - the child seat he has was held in with the seat belt and I was never really convinced this was the best solution.
After a bit of searching and asking around - I was recommended the genuine BMW isofix Junior child seat (group II-III) by a fellow F20 owner on another forum. I contacted BMW and as luck would have it they had one in stock in the colour combination I wanted and offered me a discount on it as it was the display model (albeit brand new!) in a glass display cabinet.
I've since installed it and I'm very pleased with it.. it feels very secure now that it is connected to the car body by ISOFIX and also has a top tether which connects to the rear of the back seat in the boot (so has 3 solid connection points). The impact cusion is a great design compared to the typical harness as well and now my wee boy is used to it, he seems to really like it - looks really comfortable.
I took some pictures for reference - in case anyone else was thinking about getting one:
