I've posted in this section as I can't think where else to post this...
What should oil pressure be at idle? A question for all cars really.
On my 328i turbo, I wanted to keep an eye on the oil pressure to the turbocharger, so installed a pressure gauge on the turbo feed line.
Started quite high with cold oil, but as the oil started to heat up, the pressure dropped off.
As the engine came up to operating temperature, the oil pressure dropped down to about 15psi at idle and a warning light built into the gauge illuminated.
As soon as I got back on the throttle the pressure increases, as you'd expect, but my question is: what should the oil pressure be at operating temperature at idle?
Is circa 10psi normal or something to worry about?
