I wonder if I can ask for your expert advice on my problem.
About 7 months ago I set off on my bi-weekly 40 mile trip to London (20 miles on the motorway 20 miles through town) - I joined the motorway and accelerated aggressively to overtake some slow vehicles and my yellow transmission light came on, 3 miles into the trip.
The car seemed to continue ok but the revs were 1000rpm higher than usual.
When I stopped at the lights it was idling around 1000rpm as usual.
When I tried to move off it seemed like there was no power but it did move off slowly and built up speed.
I made it home and left it overnight - the next day when I tried it - no yellow transmission light and it was working as normal
About 6 weeks later the same thing happened on my trip to London BUT the yellow transmission light came on after 37 miles once I was nearly at my destination.
Left it overnight and next day everything seemed normal and the next day I did the return 40 mile trip without any issues
Then nothing for 5 months - no yellow transmission light - everything ok on my trips and driving style.
A couple of weeks ago it did it again on my trip after about 35 miles - next day no light and back to normal.
On Friday it happened just as I got into London - next day no light and back to normal.
Last night it happened after driving 9 miles in London.
SO, the yellow transmission warning light doesn't come on straight away after starting the car but started behaving intermittently but now seems to come on earlier into a long trip. I understand this is transmission limp mode where it stays in 3rd gear, reverse is available and kickdown is disabled.
There was one 35 mile trip I did 2 weeks ago which was partly on the motorway but the transmission light did not come on - that night the weather was very cold -1/-2 degrees c - I don't know if its relevant but worth mentioning.
I have connected my USB interface to read the codes in INPA - I'm no expert but doing transmission & engine error code scans I got the following;
GEARBOX ERROR CODE READ:
ENGINE ERROR CODE READ:
Can anyone tell me what the transmission error codes mean in plain english? - 153 TL_MES
My car is converted to run on LPG which could explain the engine error codes.
Any help and advice greatly appreciated.
