Hello guys, I hope someone is able to help me. I basically have a couple of suspension woes.
Firstly I have these subtle knocking noises coming from both front wheels or rather in those areas. I have already replaced the worn control arm bushes last year, which fixed the massive rock from side to side and also tightened up the steering. But I am still left with these noises. The best way I can explain is a light metal on metal sound, not noticeable driving on smooth ground but noticeable on rough or bumpy road, perhaps less noticeable in the summer too, which makes me think bushes??
Secondly I seem to be hearing the occasional creak from the rear. I notice this most when I drive off the dropped curb, imagine when the ride height over each wheel alters and then settles. I don't think this is related to any kind of chassis cracking by the way.
The car is a 2001 318Ci, coming up to 90k, went through the MOT in November with no advisories, and when I asked the tester he seemed to think everything was tight. One previous owner for 11 years so I assume it was never thrashed about or anything like that. I would appreciate any advice on this, its a niggle that I want to get sorted, especially if it improves the handling which I think is a bit sloppy.
