I had a drive belt snap on me 9k miles ago. It was replaced at the roadside and has been examined again recently and was found to be starting the shred once again so I changed it for a new one. This was two weeks ago. I checking it again at the week end ( Im getting paranoid now) and found that it seems to be starting to wear on the closest to the engine side. I spoke to a mechanic mate and he reckons it could be the belt tensioner pulley starting to wear. What to do you guys think. Last time it went It took out some electrical wiring as it flailed about and I really dont want that to happen gain.
BMW sell a replacement tensioner that include a pulley or a separate pulley. Does anyone know if you can replace the pulley on the tensioner or if you have to but the whole unit.
