Hi. BMW garage tell me that the turbo impellor shaft has broken on my 2006 320d due to "oil starvation", and that the "oil ducts need cleaning". The car has done 86,000 miles and has a full BMW service history with them. It seems to me that a dealer serviced car should not suffer from oil starvation, and that 86,000 miles is not a lot of miles for a modern diesel. Do you think the dealer has been at fault in the servicing, or am I just unlucky? They have quoted me £2,600 incl oil change and VAT, but as a "goodwill gesture" have reduced it to £2,100. Is this a good enough deal? When I tried to press them he just said that I could have bought a BMW warranty!
I see other posts on turbo problems. Presumably this is not just a BMW problem - I was thinking of getting another one, but may now think about the new C class Mercedes instead.
Any thoughts welcome.
