I am new to this forum and am looking for a bit of advice, I am an ex mechanic and haven't been in the trade for the best part of 20 years so things have obviously changed a great deal since my day.
6 weeks ago I purchased my pride and joy, I put nearly every spare penny in to my 2007 335D Msport coupe.
I spent a lot of time searching for what I thought was the right car, bodywork was pretty fair for the age, interior was near perfect and after test driving the car and speaking with the current owner about the vehicle it seemed like the right car for me, drive lovely, went great and after only having 52k on it it still felt nice and stiff/tight.
However, a few days ago after a 30 mile journey for a bit of crimbo shopping I was shocked to find after restarting the car to come home I got that warning alarm accompanied by written warnings telling me my ABS/stability control and start assist had failed and to proceed with caution and head to the dealer ASAP.
After doing a bit of digging it looked like I was in for a repair of about £2000 gutted is an understatement.
The next morning I was pleased to see the lights had gone out but decided to get it checked out anyway, the tech at my local BMW specialist confirmed my worst nightmare and said that it came up with a number of faults ABS hydro unit being the problem.
Can anyone help with a repairer from experience rather than replacing it for a small fortune ?
I don't really feel confident in replacing this myself either as I have read that bleeding the system needs computer assistance and can be a nightmare too.
Any help would be much appreciated
