    exhaust rear hanger thread snapped any suggestions? HELP! pic inside

    hi guys unfortunately i was playing around with the positioning of my rear box and i snapped the thread that holds the back box up, i cant seem to get in top of it to put a new one in or anything has this happen to anyone and what is my options to fix it as my exhaust is now sitting wonkey any suggestions cheers guys???



    as you can see from the picture i tried to drill a new hole next to it and tap a thread in but there wasnt enough there to hold the exhaust up and it ripped straight out????

    IIRC there are multiple mounting points for the exhaust on the E36, so try one of the other mounting points
    You might have to pull down the heat shield to see them all though.

    Weld on a new bolt? The exhaust isn't heavy at that point, so won't need to be that strong.

    yer there is one more mounting point to the left but i wont be able to mount it there as its a aftermarket exhaust and the other mounting point is about 6inches further left so it wont work :(

    Weld the mount of the exhaust further over to compensate for the mounting point !

    Take the boot carpet and trim out and you'll see the top of those studs. Drill out the snapped one and drop a new bolt in. You could tack it in place or have a friend hold a spanner on it while you tighten it from the other side. Simples.
