Unhappy Squeaking Noise Coming From The Rear Passenger Side Of My BMW 320i Please Help!

Hi everyone. I am in need of some advice about my car... I have a 1995 BMW 320i SE Auto and over the past month or so ive noticed a squeaking noise on the rear passenger side of the car. The squeaking starts as soon as i start driving seems to make the noise more when im turning right not so much turning left but still squeaks continuously. Ive had the car in the garage and after a week in there new break pads, rear bearings and new tyres they've told me it could be the rear axel hub (no idea what that is but he mentioned needing the whole axel arm too) im beginning to think they dont have a clue what they're talking about either and they just ripped me off because im a girl haha. Ive been doing a bit of research and a few people have mentioned top mounts but top mounts rumble and dont squeak as i was told ??? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this could be? The noise is so annoying any is taking the fun out of driving my beemer please help

    Thanks, Claire.

It's most likely to be bushes or top mounts (top mounts do squeak - I know this as one of mine currently sounds like mice live in it). Apart from the squeaking, are there any other symptoms? Odd driving characteristics etc.?

The garage do sound like they either know nothing or are trying to make you pay for crap you don't need.

    Hey chris, thanks for replying.
Although im no mechanic and know nothing about cars apart from how to change a wheel lol after a bit research i also started to think it could either be the top mounts or the trailing arm bushes. Does that sound more likely to you than the axel hub??
As you said your's currently sounds like mice live in there mine also sounds like mice lol.
Erm and no apart from the squeaking there is nothing unusual about how the car drives, if it wasnt for the squeaking i wouldnt think anything was wrong with it.

It sounds very much like top mounts to me. Parts are very cheap, and labour should be no more than an hour at the most.

Buy these: BMW 3 E36 E46 REAR SHOCK TOP MOUNT PAIR MEYLE HD C600 | eBay (very good seller, I've used them loads) and take them with you to a local BMW specialist in your area as it sounds like the place you've been using aren't exactly useful.

Hope that solves it for you

Does the noise come more over bumps?
Is the noise there even on smooth roads at slow speed?

If it was the RTABs it would most likely feel 'nervous' at speed. I also wouldn't take it back to that garage either as they clearly haven't got a clue.

Hey ronnie, when i go over bumps/speed bumps the squeaking is the same as when im driving on a straight road. As soon as the handbrake comes off and im moving the squeaking starts and is continuous and annoying loud and doesnt stop until im stationary.

Hiya prince.. I cant say it feels 'nervous' at speed, theres no wobbling on the steering wheel or any noticable change when driving over 60mph. Im guna order those parts that chris gave the link for and take it to a different garage to fit, no harm in trying and the top mounts are relativley cheap!
