self leveling headlight problem, only passenger side works, broken motor?

when you turn igntion on, passenger side light rises, then lowers and settles, drivers side does nothing. when using the adjusting dial on headlight switch, again only the passenger side moves depending on where i set the dial, drivers side does not move.

i assume the headlight has a motor inside which isnt working, are they common to break or is there a fuse for it, or a problem somewhere else?

they are not xenon headlights, just standard bulbs if that makes any difference

Sounds very much like the motor, be worth checking for a bad connection to the motor and try giving the motor a tap, but otherwise it will be a new motor most likely.

right had a proper look today, and the i can actually hear the motor when you turn the lights on or use the adjuster, but its not moving it, so i assume either its broken or its popped of the light? looks like i have to strip the light to get at it though grrrrr......

Has anyone put a bulb in lately, wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone push to hard and pop the inside of the light off the motor ball socket OR break something.

not since i have had it, but could have been done before i bought it, only noticed last night as i was parked up against a wall. didnt even realise non xenons done the self leveling thing on start up. what you say does sound like the most likely, will have a fiddle and see if i can relocate it, if not, i'll have to strip it

fixed. took headlight out today, and stripped it all down. the white bit that connects it to the reflector had snapped, probably as said above, to much force by previous owner changing bulb. anyway, bit of glue and a slight addition to the white bit, and its all solid now, both lights now dip and rise on startup can adjust via knob. just need to get it realigned now
