    Obc conversion

    Hi
Where's the best guide for converting to 18 button obc, mine is 8 button with check control and time/date but I keep finding conversions for 1's with anologue clock?

Also I'm hunting the bay for some us cams but no joy as of yet, I've heard after the swap the best thing is to get it remapped to get them to work at their best, but I'm thinking of getting the remap done first as I can't find any cams but will I then have to remap again after I fit the cams?

    Any help much appreciated !
    Gav.

Yes, so you might as well wait. Have a look for Schrick cams too, maybe try German ebay for them.

Hello Rooge, welcome over to BFI.

Since you already have Check Control, that will save you a load of hastle. Wanda has posted some good guides
If you got any more questions, the just post up - I've done the full conversion myself.

    I went 8 button to 18 button in wife's 325.

First off any guide that says start off by cutting the ends or plugs off your old loom is just silly so don't there is no need at all to do cut the standard wiring and make unneccessary and lower quality work out of the job. Also any guid that just twists wires together for the extras and does not solder or use proper connectors I would not follow

    Step 1
Move the power and earth fron black plug to white plug, you then have a working 18 button that gives you all the functions you had before, plus some but no working fuel functions.
    I moved:
    X1070 Pin 17 to X1071 Pin 13
    X1070 Pin 18 to X1071 Pin 8

    Step 2
    Second Stage I added:
    X1070 Pin 13 to X17 Pin2
X1071 Pin 9 to X17 Pin 10 (added metal pin at X17 end)

    X1071 Pin 5 to X16 Pin 12
    X1071 Pin 6 to X16 Pin 21
    X1071 Pin 7 to x16 Pin 11

At that point the only stuff you don't have are:
    Code function
    Gong
    External temp sensor
    BC button on indicator stalk

However, you have all the functons you had before plus all the fuel functions.
You can easily add the other bits after.

    Some pics etc

    The clips slide apart easy.

I prepared my new wires with a pin "pig tail" soldered to one end and a sticky label on each end saying the connector and pin no it was going in.
Prepare your extra wires like that (one at a time so no possibility of mix ups) and it should be straight forward. Of course you might just move 2 wires over and call it done

Doing Step 1 and powering up lets you know if oyu have a dud or not before you spend time doing everything else.
