Dave F Induction Air Filter Question?

    Hi All,

I just managed to get an induction kit for quite cheap, which is similar to a "Dave F" kit, I don't think it is an actual one though.

Here is a pic of it.

But it has a crap filter on, so I was wondering if anyone knows the part number of the K&N Filter that was used please?

    Thanks in advance.

That looks like a Jetex filter to me, which is at least as good as a K&N. Just give it a clean and lightly re-oil it and it'll be fine - don't over-oil it though as it'll ruin your MAF sensor. K&Ns are notorious for killing MAFs on certain cars because they come from the factory with too much oil on them.

I've got a Pipercross on mine, from a Mk5 Golf GTI 2.0T, fits perfectly (just in case you wanted to change yours, just giving you an alternative to search for).

filter is a filter as far as I care lol
    this may help

    57-1000 - K&N 57 Series FIPK, Performance Intake Kit

I have my car booked in for a rolling road (day hire) and reading it seems the engine performs better with a longer intake pipe - gonna look at mounting it down in the bumper somewhere. Will report back with results. Also going to do a run with standard air box on

    Hi ABM,

Thanks for reply fella, I wasn't 100% sure if it was a Jetex, as I thought colour might be right, but ebay ones are same colour, so kind of threw me off lol.

As also got it so cheap for the whole lot posted, thought it might also be a crap one, so just if any one knew the part number.

When it comes will have a look see what it actually is

    Thanks dude.

Stickle, thanks dude, that link is helpful.
Personally I don't think filters are filters, only as I don't want any crap getting in the engine (which I know most likely it won't, but better safe than sorry ).

    Thanks boys

    Haha, this is true

Currently it is yes, I will be M50'ing, Decat, BBTB, induction, M3 3.23 rear diff (got the rear axle and prop at home to rebuild up, and poly bush the lot), M3 brakes all round with M3 BMC/Servo (got), stripped out interior, just got HSD's with Nür-Spec springs too from DriftWorks (on offer currently with 20% off).

Coming off the road at end of this month, so will start doing all the mods ready for next year to get back into trackdays, with Summer annual 'Ring trip being the most important deadline lol.

Where did you get the heatshield part from?

I need one for mine, I've got a Blitz SUS cone on mine atm, the last heatshield turned up and it was a shitter and got sent straight back

Hi mate, I got it with the whole thing off someone on e36coupe forum, I haven't got it yet.
Sorry I cannot help where the heatshield is from, but when it comes if there is any marks on it, I will pass on the info to you.
