    E36 m3 De-Cat or not?

Hi guys iv had my m3 for a year now and when I got the car the previous owner removed the cats! Is it worth it or a waist of time as I still have the cats in my garage? Is there really a power increase??

I think most would say that there's a tangible benefit, especially when combined with some sort of ECU remap. The general theory being that any removal of constriction to the flow of exhaust gasses must be a good thing.

I'm not sure as I think the plan may have changed but there was talk of cars failing the new MOT if they did not have a CAT present (assuming they left the factory with them) even if they passed the CO emissions test. That being the case people are starting to 'hollow them out' rather than removing them, so to the unaware it looks as though they are there still. Enevitably it'll only be a few years before the escalation starts and MOT testers are using long bendy cameras to look for the innards... people start drawing artists impressions of the inside of a CAT on the walls of the hollow shell

If it made any difference worth having BM would have just fitted larger diameter CATS as an easy way to get more power
