E46 all - Question for owners who've fitted Meyle solid rubber bushes to the wishbone

Hi guys , longtime no chat!

Well someone warned me (although I think after I'd fitted them) & now I'm having to pay again as result.

Fitted 'cheap', but what I thought was ok quality Delphi front wishbones & their rear bushes about 1 1/2 yrs ago/28k miles, I've already had to replace the OS arm (luckily I got a replacement FOC from CAFs , I think possibly only because our garage is a regular customer of theirs), the 'old' 1 the outter balljoint would creak over ~25C & the inner 1 would occasionally knock on pulling away. Just prior to changing that arm I thought at least the bushes would be ok, wrong! weak already grrr. And it's tramling moderately bad again.

So I'm looking at getting myle solid rear bushes for both the wishbones, the question is, do the solid rubber bushes transmit much more road noise & vibration that the std oil filled ones? or are they only slightly noiser?

Had them,Meylehd, fitted on my old E46 saloon, no discernable increase in noise but felt immediately tighter. Are they solid rubber, always assumed they were oil filled but rubber compound was stiffer?

Don'tknow. Yhe BMW supplied bushes have lasted 47K on the 328 and still good. I have used Meyle HD in some places on wife's 325 and starting to use them on anything that habitually goes like anti-roll bar links.

The ones I have so far are same construction as original just better quality.

Some of the rear subframe bushes are 'liquid' filled so simply assumed the RCABs were of the same construction.

Me too but I have rebushed the entire 325 backend and a lot of the parts are common to both E36 and E46. It's all a learning curve

One thing is some people say the cheap stuff is ok and some say it doesn't last. I've known expensive stuff not last either sometimes but one of the OEMs or the Meyle HD stuff seems to do ok.

The standard RCAB bushes are liquid filled, maybe it's not oil, that was a guess, but I've definitly seen some bushes split & leak liquid.

Nice guarentee on them , but that doesn't answer my question. How do they compare for noise & vibration?

Re solid rubber, I read somewhere that they were (can't remember where now!), if so they are likely to be noisier.
But if someone can show otherwise I'm all ears

if it were me i would go meyle hd. i got powerflex and wish i had got meyle now. power flex are just to harsh.

Yea I had powerflex on the RCABs on my old e36, big mistake that was! lots of vibration+noise. Eventually swapped them for solid rubber (& offset) M3 bushes, the extra castor gave it much better self centering too (poor self centering is something the std e36s suffered from).

What's the difference between Meyle & Meyel HD bushes?


Forgot to say, checked the RCABs the other day & they seemed to be ok , just slight play which is normal for them.
Dunno why it's tramlining so bad then, maybe it's cos the yoko's are wearing low, although they've worn evenly. In the meantime I've noticed the OSF shock has leaked a load more oil! Gotta change the frt shocks pronto!

I put the meyle hd wishbone C/W lolly pop bush on mine a while back can't remember when maybe 18months they don't make any more noise than the oem ones that were on there before, and I mean before they were knackered they are much tighter not had powerflex ones so can't comment
