    2004 E46 330ci - I think I've found a water leak! (FIXED)

As per title, I've been having coolant issues of late with a particular pipe that's going to be replaced.

Unfortunately it popped on the motorway and so all I had available was cold deionised water.

    Which has resulted in:

    Eeek!

I've pulled all the coolant system out for inspection:

(zip ties are only there as they were annoying me in the tool box - they're not going to be used!)

Has the expansion tank been replaced before Nath as it looks very clean and in good condition, except for the massive split!

    Not in my ownership mate.

It's had lots of water over it as I was testing for leaks (didn't notice the effin big crack at first!!).

I've replaced the thermostat a few months ago though.

The cooling system has been very poor through my short term ownership of a 323I i have replaced radiator(Bowing at bottom) water pump (plastic impeller) and radiator bottom hose (plastic coupler was split where it joins the radiator).

Yeah but it's standard E46 faults.

    My water pump looks new.

    According to real oem:
    01 Rmfd water pump 1 04/2003 11517503884 ENDED
    01 Replacement coolant pump, mechanical 1 11517527910 $115.83

Mine is 04 so should have a metal one?

Yer getting to know all about E46 faults now

I replaced both control arms and drop links last week as well,,,,Another common one to add to the list

On the up side parts are cheap and easy to get hold of and once all the common parts that are prone to fail are replaced happy days
