    Exhausts

    Hello,

Has anyone here fitted new exhausts onto their 330s? Would appreciate some feedback on what the results were.

    I'm considering this MAGNEX CAT BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM BMW E46 325 / 328 / 330 | eBay

The worst thing to have is a droning sound when cruising...

Any aftermarket exhaust is a waste of money IMO for our 330ci. You won't get any power gains. The standard exhuast is awesome. You after a different sound? What do you want from a new exhuast?

I made my own exhaust by swapping the rear silencer for twin cherry bombs, sounded ace, but from 1800 to 2200 rpm it was resonating badly in the cab.
Then I opened up the stock silencer and made it straight through and it was quiet, but had a bit of bark when you punched it.

I was hoping to maybe to get rid of all restriction in the exhaust. to give you an idea- 2005 330i ZHP Header Muffler Delete Quads Exhaust Rev 1 - YouTube

seems like you can get a crazy sound out of these engines if you get it right. I agree it sounds good now, but you can get a lot more out of it, the question is whether it is possible to live with it on a daily basis.

Another one, the UUC exhaust BMW 330i with UUC TSE3 Light Exhaust - YouTube

This sounds ridiculous, and apparently doesnt drone. Dont get me wrong, it sounds awesome as standard. Another small point it that my exhaust tips are pretty corroded and dont look nice.

I think it sound shit as standard, i.e you can't hear it.

My modified silencer was the loudest I could get it without drone. No doubt manufactured systems are far superior to my cherry bombs though.

It always seems like the 330's make a more muted sound than the 320/325's to me. But make no mistake, they sound brilliant as standard; understated but unmistakably a big 6 to those in the know.

    Re: Exhausts

Do the golf tee mod on the exhaust flap on the right hand side then see what you think

I've been driving with this and it is quite loud inside the car. I don't think I would want it to be louder than that- with an exhaust system it would be louder than this inside the car?

Potentially yes. You could add some sound deadening but this Jon of defeats the purpose of you having a clubsport.

If you haven't done so already, do what @Spirit suggested and do the golf t mod. Makes the exhaust sound better at lower rpm. Won't make it any louder at higher rpm (as flap will be open anyway)

thats what I mean, i have done the golf tee mod, and i think it is loud enough like this. I guess it is a waste of money to change the exhaust...
