Best oil to use in s50b32 engine?

What's the best oil for an e36 m3 3.2? BMW use 10/60 grade but that is wrong for the e36! I last used fuches pro 10/40 and its good but it has made my vannos a bit noisier then what ever was in it before what do u guys think?

Best oil to use in s50b32 engine?

Gulf competition 5w/40 or Fuchs Titan race pro 5w/40
People use the edge 10w60 in the e36 with mixed tesults but its not the right stuff and even castrol don't recommend it for e36's

Best oil to use in s50b32 engine?

I have the gulf in mine at the moment but have always used the Fuchs. I have a new vanos on mine so its not a problem. If the vanos is noisy it's worn gears anyway and the oil will only quieten it down for about 1500 miles. People always go on about the vanos but IMO spinning a shell is a worse situation to have which is why I have always stuck with recommended grades and not the 10w60.
Each to there own though M3 oil is a minefield of different opinions....

Il never use 10/60 way to thick for our engines! Do we know what causes a spinning shell? Has oil grade got a part to play in this because the fella that owned my car before me used 10/60 and we had a disagreement on this subject

they use the same baring shells on the e46 m3 as the e36 m3
and as the e46 m3 is less prone to spinning its shells could this be because
    it uses 10w60 ?

I use 10-60 castrol edge in mine. If you take the time to read up the data on 10-60 edge you'll see that although its a 'thick' oil it actually has extremely good cold flow rates, better than some 5w-** oils. Its is a very strong oil. 'spun' bearing shells are also a very rare occurrence in European countries, where the owners widely use 10w-60 weight oil. Take from that what you will.

Most important thing is use good quality synthetic oil & keep the intervals short. If you don't; want to loose you bottom end get arp bolts

Best oil to use in s50b32 engine?

My saying still goes that if castrol who make the oil themselves do not recommend it for the s50 I won't use it. If they change it then ill change my mind. Like I said before, e36 m3 oil is a minefield of different opinions and facts. Ill stick with what the oil manufactures themselves say....
