Needs Shocks

So tyres fitted yesterday, feeling all nice and driving with a big grin! Had my car booked in for an MOT today at kwikfit...misses gets them online for £25 somehow so I thought it would hurt as they won't really be doing any work on the car. Anyway it failed. I was shocked! Apparently there is a 'massive' oil leak on the front nearside shock. Numpty changing the wheels never mentioned this 'massive' oil leak. Either he is blind or kwikfit are exaggerating.

Anyway got to get it sorted. Eurocarparts sell the sachs for about £97. Is that a decent enough brand and reasonable price?

What really bugs me about this is that the car has only done 33k miles and yet all 4 shock would have been replaced. the rears were changed at 24k miles after they failed and now the fronts have gone at 33! I'm all up for maintenance and like to keep my car in perfect working order but things need to last for a reasonable amount of time!!!

kwikfit are exaggerating

They are as they said mine would fail on the bushes.. and it didn’t fail...

I would get it re-tested at a MoT station that solely does MoT's (If you have time)

Seen 1 series shocks fail early.
The shocks actually have to be visibly leaking to actually fail on a MOT, oil on the outside actually isn't enough to fail it, they have to be leaking when compressed to fail them.

As for Sacks, yes they are a good make, OEM stuff.

If someone from Kwik fit told me it was raining I would want to go outside and check..... They boost their minimum wage jobs with commission selling their shit to innocent people to naive to check things out for themselves - not saying that they aren't bolloxed but check for yourself first....

P.S My 2008 E91 330 has 28k on it and so far front and rear shocks are OK....

Just jack the car up and checked the shock...oil is defo leaking from it. Seems like its been leaking for a while as well.

2 front sachs shocks delivered for £131 from that website i posted above! Eurocarparts is £194 online and when i rang they quoted £205!
