Thick felt lining on inside of bonnet?

The thick felt lining attached to the underside of the bonnet... is this just for sound proofing?

I only ask because mine sags and really pisses me off, so if it is just for sound proofing its coming out..

I believe it's just a heat shield to protect your paintwork from bubbling when you're engine gets very very hot (on a hot day).

Not needed unless you think your engine is going to get very hot.

I think its only sound proofing, I took mine out of my 330Ci and didn't have any troubles with the paint burning off

Thick felt lining on inside of bonnet?

I guess I'm wrong then. Cool. No need for the soundproofing.

It wonder how much weight you will save?

Its very light jrfty, but seeing as you don't need it you just as well lose it.

My z4 doesn't have it either

It also has no around proofing in the doors, which is stupid as it sounds a bit like a fiesta when you shut the doors lol
