I have a pop/clonk (and other e36 probs)

Hi all.

When I turn a sharp corner I get POP sound coming from the lower front of the car. Lets say I'm taking the right hand exit on a roundabout, when turning round it as the car leans to the left I'll hear a pop... Then I straighten up and turn left and it pop's again, kinda like a pop in/out like action. When this happens it's almost like I can fell this thru the floor pan but I don't know whether its a placebo or not. Its also more prominent when the roads are wet too! Now this has been going on a while but as the roads are constantly wet I think I'll do something about it.

Just to let you know I have replaced the wishbones and the droplinks about a year/8k ago with powerflex arb and rear bushes, also new m3 hubs, coilovers, tie rods in the last 6 months, in fact the only original bits left are the steering rack and the subframe. I tell you this as it started between doing the wishbone and the rest of it.

My first thought it the droplinks (and i hope its these)
second... is the rear bushes (hence why i can feel it on the floorwell)
Third... rack and column as its a steering thing
forth... subframe Oh please god no!!!

Any thoughs?

Mines doing the same this week but when I turn left and coming from the rear guessing its some sort of joint or bush needs changing,with regards to your noise I had a similar. Ouse but it sounded like it was coming from the bottom of where the seatbelt goes near the door pillar and it was a RTAB

I really hope its not bushes or ball joints :(

Droplinks seem to be week on lowered cars but i dont wanna start replacing bits til i know for sure!

Get it jacked up and move the wheel try and see where the noise is from.or get a garage to have a look for you.i must go through about 2 sets of ball joints a year on my car they are a week point on lowered cars

nightmare! outer ones i take it?

I have done the old 6-12oclock and 9-3 push pull and all seems ok... but yeah GRRRR

To be honest I have no idea which ones they I just get them checked Nd if they need doing he does it.not going to help you but fixed mine tonight it was my wheel brace in my storage above my battery in the boot that was making the noise :-/
