320d touring-heated mirrors and rear screen

Hi all, my mirrors are being heated all the time without the rear de-mister being on? Any thoughts??

Adding to this my rear screen de-mister does not work, I have had a tester on it today the beadle did not move much, but there is power going to the black box on the left of the screen, as I pushed the prong of the tester to far through the wire caught the body and blew the fuse, when the rear de-mister is switched on you can hear the relay in the boot clicking in and out, ??

Could the box on the right (as you look at the screen when it's open) be a earth to complete the circuit? If so could this be my problem as I have a positive feed??
Any ideals would be a great help
    Thanks,

well if the rear screen positive is on the same wiring and fuse as the mirrors, and there is a dead short somewhere to another positive they will stay on but the rear screen wont if its open circuit which is common...

ide think about pullin some fuses to narrow the fault down...

ive never studied an E46 wiring diagram but if any of it is computer controlled then these usually switch stuff on and off in the negative leg of a circuit, so wotever it goes to it is fed with a live feed permanant and switched by putting the negative to it so if there is a dead short on the neg to earth it will stay on all the time...

shit i work on at work has this and neg earths are deadly with computer controlled switched negatives wiring and circuits..

i dunno if cars use this type of affair tho...

320d touring-heated mirrors and rear screen

Hi dailydoggy, would the black box on the right of the rear screen be a earth? Could I not tap into this and earth to the body? Could I have a problem with the switch? If that went the feed to the mirrors could be constant, but the relay in the boot that clicks in & out would stop the rear window from working??

Top advise DD I have spent almost 4 years trying to work out how to fix mine and have worked out I need a new screen 'Fook' that

But jones keep trying on yours and let me know if you find a fix, but I would be carful with adding new ground points unless you know it ain't going to shag it up.
