The 3.23 is the large case diff so you will need the subframe from the M3 evo. You may find the entire rear axle for around 300 like I did

you mean a medium case LSD found on 328 sports
as you are looking for a engine conversion you are best off
    getting a downer car

    Ya reckon?
Cool, i'll look for one but i'd imagine 328 sports (lsd) are pretty few and far between aren't they?

    Only if it's an EVO, not if it's off a 3.0 M3 I believe.

The OP has put 3.23 diff ratio which is as you should know the ratio of the Evo diff which is a large case diff hence why I answered the question with the answer the OP requires.......

3.15 is the ratio of the diff in the 3.0 M3 which is a medium sized diff

Noob question: the higher the ratio the taller the gearing, (top speed over acceleration) correct?

it's turns of prop to turns of road wheel. Bigger number = lower gear.

Should be typed as 3.23:1 then becomes obvious
