Engine Flush - To Do or Not to Do

Ok, Just about to fit Expansion tank on my car, due to coolant leak, decided to check oil,, its a bit dirty. not black, but dirty lol.

I opened oil cap on the block to check condition inside, from quick glance with a torch.

It looks really dirty, quite thick grease, looks almost like sand.

Anyway, I grabbed my service book, and checked the service history.

The last oil change was done 8,000 miles ago, the previous to that, was 17,000 before, and prior to that a whopping 35,000 miles before.

so we are talking 3 oil services over 73,000 miles.

The car has been serviced annually, but has done a lot of miles over the past 4 years.

Personally all my previous cars have been serviced every 4000 miles (High performance japanese imports)

Anyway, My question to you all is, if I do an oil change, would it be worth running through some Forte or Wynns engine flush?

Do you think the "Gunk" will be sealing worse issues? Or should it be all ok?

The "gunk" is more than likely emulsification built up from condensation - quite normal this time of year especially with short runs. Personally I wouldn't flush it (tends to cause more problems than it causes IMO), get the oil really hot and change it with a "cheaper" grade then do it again in a 1000 miles or so.

Like Kevin, in the past I have run a really cheap oil through the engine to clean it before I put the "proper" stuff in.
