    Petrol smell in cabin

    Hi guys,

I get a very strong smell of petrol in the cabin when I start the car up.

This started around the same time as I was/am getting a really bad noice from under the car when hitting medium revs in any gear.

Car is going in to the garage next Wed for various things so will have this checked but have you guys any ideas.

Catalytic converter is duff as it only scraped through the MOT. But that cant be related.

Only other thing is a rattle from the exhaust just off the manifold (loose clip).

Could any of this be related. Any ideas??

    Thanks guys,
    Mark

Sounds like your manifold gaskets are shot mate!,,,,Get someone to rev the engine while you listen for a "rasp" noise in that area.....DON'T go poking around the manifold area with your fingers though!!!!! Tends to get a tad bit HOT..

    Good luck

    Re: Petrol smell in cabin

    Quick update on the situation..

Was out and about yesterday and the noise turned in to a full blown 'blown' exhaust. Going to try and get it in the exhaust place tomorrow first thing.

Havent had a chance to get under the car but sounds like it is coming from the manifold area.

Reckon this will be costly as I remember being quoted for part of the exhaust previously and I believe they come in two pieces for my car?

Fair play though as original exhaust from new (104k).

    Sigh...
