Didnt realise you could charge/turbo my engine, thought they all 44s or 42s with 44 heads, hmmmmm, did I miss a thread? have you got a link anywhere because thats a tempting thought if the gains are good
You mentioned that a 1.8 M43 gives you 7bhp ? It's normally 15bhp I guess that depends on the car itself.
Like i said, it depends on the engine itself as they are 3 variants M43B16, M43B19, M43TU.

Turbo'd M43's have been done before, i've seen videos on youtube & some project links on the web.
Here's one of them--> [click] <--: A 1.6 went from 105 to 140bhp. The torque gains were 220. Remember though, these are achieved using stock engine internals.
Check the dyno sheet on that link ^ above

So 1.8 (B19) should cross the 200bhp barrier with stock internals, with a lot more torque than a 1.6

I've learned that M43's can have an M42 head (it's stronger) than M44's. As all three engines share the same bottom end.

Myself & @Jackmcl are both turbocharging the M43's, so look out for our project threads if you need inspiration. @Prince & @m44lee have superchargers on both m42 & m44's

I'm actually turbocharging an m52 (6 cylinder) at the moment, haven't even made a start on the m43 yet...

Project is somewhere in the project section, haven't updated it for a while

    Nothing to update I'm afraid
I haven't had a chance to get on with any work on it for a while, been mighty busy with work, moving house at the end of the month, organising my sons christening and boxing training etc etc...
Will get further with it soon

Sorry we seem to have hijacked this thread!
The deal sounds like a bargain @MoreaTourer, go for it, just check the engines history first.... It may be tired

@wanda I'll definitely be following that thread and @E36 lover I'd love to take you up on the offer but have zero storage/off street area.

Mines M43B18 btw, if 42/44 head will fit then maybe thats the way to start looking, have decided to fork out on ARB kit for now as seller of engine very vague about mileage etc. (and my stock ARB bushes are shot so kinda necessary lol)
No worries about thread hijack, it happens

For those wanting to do a head conversion on their M43, have a read of this thread on BFuk: M43 gets M42 head transplant in preparation for DASC

If anybody wants to come have a look at my supercharged 4 pot you're more than welcome to stop by. I'll be at the Northampton Meet in April, DC13, Gaydon and Santa Pod as well if that interests anybody.
