Anyone know whats supposed to secure the battery in the boot of an e36 328i? The battery in my new car is wedged in place with a block of wood
Just trying to figure out what part is missing. Cheers guys
Mine only had the screw thing aswell and held it in place fine I've just fitted a bigger battery tht fits snugly il look in the boot at what I removed if tis any good to you it's yours
Nothing on mine, the batt's big enough to hold itself in pretty tight but it may be that its a bigger than stock one though. Not sure if it's right or wrong... I'll grab the size info off it this week....
From the diagram [number: 8 & 4] are used to clamp the box down. I've only seen a battery tray on E36's that have batteries at the front
Yep, nothing at all like the picture on either of my E36s I have owned.
The battery is basically secured via a combination of captive clips at the front (which effectively sandwich the base of the battery) and an extended bolt, washer and clip (as shown in the pic) at the rear.
Hope that makes sense.
@E36 TDS and @wanda - Well it may be as simple as that. I have #16 and #8 but that does not go anywhere near my battery - hence the wood in between. I bet money theres either another screw hole to accomodate different sizes or my battery is completely wrong Will take a look when its daylight
Either way, nice to know I'm not missing anything, more £££ to spend on fun parts!
