I recently purchased a 320d coupe 2009 model and its currently off the road due, due to the sale of my existing car, so currently SORN.
Anyway, it was low on fuel when I purchased it, and when I was last at the petrol station I decided to fill up one of those 5 litre canisters, so I could put into my BMW.
This morning when trying to attempt to do this, with the car unlocked and drivers door open, then diesel filler is locked to which I cannot open.
When purchasing the car, I managed to successfully use the canister half way through my journey, but the car has not been used in over 2 weeks, and wondered if the fuel protection system had kicked in, or the car knows it hasn't been driven for a while and so locks the filler.
Can someone advise how you can fill up with a canister, as surely this must be allowed when people just brake down, due to forgetting to fill up, and run out of diesel.
Any advise would be welcoming.
