Had juddering under braking, mostly at speeds over 40mph, but at lower speed, the car slows down in stages, as opposed to gradually. I suspect discs, but I also know at MOT last month, the front control arms had slight play.
anyway, today I bought a dial gauge and set about checking the discs. Was good as I have not any serious done any DIY yet , so it was fun removing calipers and even removing the discs...in snow.
Anyway, here is a short video of the drivers side rotating
i set the gauge to zero at lowest point, then rotated. the drivers side had a movement of 30... which on the gauge I believe would be 0.3mm.......BMW specs suggest max runout on fitted disc is 0.2mm. The passenger side was around 20-28, so 0.2 to 0.28mm.
Do you reckon this is therefore the cause of my juddering. I have ordered cheap discs from ebay (£30) just to see if it makes a difference. If it does, then I will buy some better quality drilled/grooved etc. Then I will change the control arm bushes too
