Hi guys, I know how many times this subject is covered and have been checking through them and think my problem is the cam shaft sensor but really do appreciate help.
So the car bmw 318 2001 1.9 nice car bought with "needing maf", mot run out now and desperate to get running under maf so mot can be done and use the car!
Replaced maf...first cheaply ebay but errors on inpa so picked up Bosch unit, known and seen working
Plugs replaced and re cleaned as we're fouled up to hell from car running rubbish
New air filter
New fuel filter being fitted shortly
New disa valve
New CCV and pipes
Replaced icv (small type which sits on throttle body)
Pipes checked and replaced where required
Have done a smoke test and didn't have anything, also pressurised system with air and no leaks
Car runs fine without maf attached, pulls smoothly revs freely to redline and also idles smoothly
Plug in maf and usually steals or revs at around 400rpm (surprisingly quite well!) and sounds like a tractor
Car misfires chugs and refuses to go over 3k revs or above 50%, revs and stays and 3k but put that little more throttle and dies makes like hoover noise in intake. Hold throttle on full throttle goes to 3k dies of to low revs and does a purge of power up to the 3k.
Inpa with maf attached shows no errors apart from when u floor it the secondary air valve is reporting an error.
Under rough running it shows cyl 1 running a little higher then the others
Some additional info
If you activate the fuel tank vent with the maf attached doing its low rev idle it will stall
If you activate the idle valve it revs up through 2k-3k
Car doesn't seem to change cold or warm
Every now and then inpa shows problem with heating lambada after kat
Inpa never reports any misfires although u can hear it!
Thx guys! I so wanna drive it again as love how it runs.
