Hi all. I'm new to BMWs (and this forum) so please excuse any ridiculous sounding questions! I've now had a 59 plate 325i SE for just over a month and I'm quite pleased with it. Being new to BMW (and this model) I'm not really sure what to expect from it, so maybe some of you in the know can share your knowledge.
The car seems to run fine, but idles at 600rpm, which seems lower than my previous cars. Is this normal for the 325i?
Moving on, what kind of MPG can I expect from this? When used for a mixture of trip types and distances, I'm averaging around 30 mpg and on the one long trip I've used it for (450 miles round trip consisting of about 80% motorways), it returned 38mpg. Is this what should be expected?
My penultimate question (at this time ) centres on performance. On paper this car is supposed to have a 0-60 performance of 6.6 seconds, but it doesn't really feel much different from my 2.0 Alfa 156 (which was supposed to be 8.6 seconds on paper). Do I need to accelerate up to the red line before changing up to get anywhere near the listed performance? Any tips for getting this car to deliver the goods?
...and finally, kind of following on from my last question, I'm considering an engine remap. Has anyone had this done on this model? If so, will I get much benefit on remapping a petrol engine or is it something best left untouched?
