Thought I'd check this here to see if it's about right.
I opted for the diesel as I've been getting through petrol in the 2.0 Vectra I have been driving like it's going out of fashion! Fortunately that's being collected on Wednesday to take it's final journey to the big scrap yard in the sky.
I've always been in the mindset to half fill the tank each time (why drag around the weight of an additional 30 litres when you don't need to) & £40 of petrol (around 30 litres) used to get me 180 - 200 miles based on my daily driving.
Did the same with the Beemer last Sunday (£40 diesel in, 29 litres) & have just got 270 miles out of it before going back to the pump. I reset the computer when I put the £40 in last Sunday & the result is 39.7 mpg at an average speed of 27.5 mph.
That's obviously better than the Vectra but just wanted to see if that sounds about right to the owners here who have owned thier Beemer for more than a week!
Oh, I screwed up today at the pump (attention not being paid) & only noticed I was at the Esso "Diesel Supreme" pump when it was too late. 146.9 a bloody litre!!!! Note to self, learn the recognise the difference between the dirty pumps!
