    Bmw 525d E39 heavy smoke

    Hello ,

I've got a bmw 525d automatic. Have some heavy dark smoke coming out exhaust. I have cleaned the EGR work fine.
Friend told me to check the hose from turbo connection to the EGR and see if there is any cracks in. Checked.
When i'm driving up to 2300 and up smoke is comming out heavely and power go down to.
Anyone can tell me what tit could be?

    Thanks

    claude

Check hoses between turbo-intercooler ; cooler - intake.

If smokes hard over 2000 and feels like non turbo it might be hoses.(might be hard to see)

If strong "windy" noise come under the bonnet while accelerating hard it might be hoses

Could also be your CCB needs replacing, my old e39 525 did some thing similar, I replaced the CCB and the dark smoke went away after a good run.

I had the same issue. It was the EGR Controller.

Change it, clean the EGR, check all the hoses and it should be fine.
