    E60 Restraint System Fault Fix

    Hi guys

Just putting this up as it may help a few people as the restraint system fault is quite common.

My restraint light was coming on constantly even after an error code clear after the car was restarted it threw the light back on.

My advice would be too not go to BMW just yet as they will rob you in just diagnosing the fault let alone fixing it.

My error code was in module SFZ and was 9AFF tried a bit of coding to turn the seat sensor off to no avail. Then I managed to buy a sensor bypass unit of ebay for a tenner which marks the seat as occupied all the time which is supposed to clear the fault well it did not do this for me.

So I ripped it out and will put it on ebay at some point. Anyways I was servicing the car yesterday and done the oil filters etc then thought might be good for the car to replace the battery so went into halfords and got a new bosch battery at 120 and fitted it to the car.

Got the car up and running airbag light still on but decided to clear the codes just to see if it worked. It did! Airbag light has not came on again nor hasthe restraint fault even after a restart so I am guessing it was a dud battery messing up the sensors

So if you have this fault bit of advice change the battery before going near BMW

    Chris

Cheers for the heads up, I have heard of this before, along with the battery lead giving issues.
