E34 520i hazard lights and batt drain issue

Hi guys, have a thread in the electrical section but need one here for the E34 owners to see really.

Replaced battery today with a cheap one which is a bit smaller as i was getting complete battery drain for no apparent reason. Once the new batt was fitted, the hazards started flashing in a pattern and wont sht off unless i pull the relay or the battery terminals. Im trying to locate a new relay but i dont hink its that tbh. Ive seen other forums in the US mentioning the crash control unit but i cant even find mine to check it :/ comfused, hopefully this has happened to someone and they know the fix (like can i jump some terminals on the hazard relay thing to get the indicators to at least work without the relay in lol)

    Thanks in advance guys

    Worth a try maybe

Thanks Watty. Funny thing is the alarm hasnt worked for more than 6 months. It would arm/disarm intermittently on the fob and i put it down to battery being low in the fob so left it disarmed and started using the door lock instead. Funnily enough i remember at first the inicators flashing once when locking with the key but it hasnt done that for a long while now :/

Dont know why the alarm would all of a sudden reset itself or anything now, as ive had the battery on and off loads in the past year.

Sorry Gav, just read the other thread

I dont want to say its a particular thing as im not sure but when my indicators go funny after a battery disconnect they flash fast, then slow, really fast blah blah, really erratically

Yeah thats how mine are. Flash-flash-miss flash-flash-miss like a constant pattern. Maybe it is the same issue. Hope i dont need to have any remotes reprogrammed when i eventually change the batterie in them

Is it the one button fob about the same size a domino?

You can change them no probs with reprogramming

If its the 3T alarm Gav theyre known for giving problems like,is that what you got?

Just saw on the other thread you have the 3T Gav, id do some internet searching on that alarm. Its known as a Sigma alarm as well..

Might not be your prob but nothing ventured mate

Dont understand how your car starts with a dead fob as it has an immobliser too, well my 3T does
