    Tyres wearing unevenly

Took the car today to get winters stuck on the rear and guy takes the first tyre off and promptly tells me its knackered. Slicked on the inside. Same thing with the offside. Phones local dealer who says it could be potholes that caused it. Rambo (my tyre guy) asks to see the fronts on lock. Another 2 tyres completely slicked on the inside. Calls dealer again and at least this time they're saying its fair to say its not pothole damage now. So 240 quid for a 4 wheel geometry check to find out what's causing it.

Rambo reckons its been in a huge shunt at some point and fixed on the cheap. I've been leaning toward that myself more and more lately with a few other things that have come to light.

Any suggestions to anything else that it could be?

    Cheers

    Phil

Just a fair bit of Camber... IMO - How many miles have these tyres done?

What other issues make you think it's had a shunt, it could he just poor alignment... Vornys 335 used to eat rears on the insides when on runflat tyres, he switched to normals and trebled the life of them....

19" rims and shite roads don't help...

    Tyres wearing unevenly

I'd not think that anything other than an incredibly accurate shunt would make it scrub the insides of all four tyres

Like said - RFT's all do it. Managed to minimise it on mine somehow (regularly checking pressures etc) but we don't do that many miles. By all means get the alignment checked but then ditch the rfts.

I'm not on run flats though. I hsvent been on runflats for over a year now. There's other things too tho if you want to pm me an email Addy! Thing is if you go to the fronts they're wearing slightly on the outside houldr as they all do but 3 times as bad on the inside. Both fronts are wearing the same. The rears have no outer wear on them but the inside are on the second rubber but not quite as bad as the fronts! Surely the front camber on both sides can't be identically out and same on me rear pair???

    Tyre Wear

    Hi,
I'm new to this site so a great big "Hello" to you all. On reading the probs your having with tyre wear I might have a little bit of info for you. My son took his series 3 in to check his tyres and found that there was wear on the inside tread. The tyre fitter then investigated the problem and found that there was a slight buckle on the rim. The cause of it was probably kerbing the wheel as there was evidence of a graze around the rim. I guess the moral of the story is to STAY AWAY FROM THE KERB!

    Afterthought ????
Does anyone know of a place where I can get a set of "O" rings for my radiator pipework? Any help would be great. My car is an E39 525i 2003 Series 5.
