    E60/61 bonnet not locking closed? time for caustic soda

    Closing my bonnet was getting harder and harder, it just wouldn't "catch" the catchs.... answer

    Whip them off and soak in hot caustic soda solution



    And hey presto! all clean and working perfectly again, just oiled and greased, popped back on working perfectly

    They are a mare Matt. I always covered mine in Copper Slip to prevent them corroding, but you only ever learn the hard way when you can't open the damn thing ....

    The magic of cautsic soda, it eats all the caked up grease and frees them up again
