2004 645 ci Metallic knocking from front end.

Everytime I go over bigger bumps than normal I have a metallic knocking sound from the front end. Im only guessing that its a bush needing replacing. Am I right?

i would start with a look at the ARB Drop Links they make a loud knock over bumps when worn on other bmws

its abit hard to do with out a pit
but you need to get a priy bar under the drop links with the wheels on the floor and push up and feel if it moves and it takes a bit of effort

Number 8 in this picture is the anti roll bar link rods and as already stated is the most probable. Number 3 are the anti roll bar bushes, but the E63 has many joints/bushes that are all possibilities.

    Or even the top mounts...

Thats the baby, get a bar under the anti roll bar and look for any play in the ball joints on the rod ends... It's usually these (done my compact recently), not a big or expensive job TBH...
