Hi all, I bought this 840ci a couple months back as it was at a price I couldn't resist. The seller stated it had had a new gearbox and torque converter and S/S Torqueflow exhausts, both with in the last 15k, a full service history and only 2 owners despite the high mileage so it had to be done really.
The only work that needs doing to it is that it needs a set of rocker cover and profile gaskets as it's loosing a little oil onto the manifolds and new front lower control arm bushes (these are being fitted this week).
The alloys need a good refurb (these are staggered btw) and should look great with a polished lip and some black centers or something similar (ideas people..?). I will wait till I can afford for them to be done professionally as I believe they deserve it!
I also managed to hunt down a set of unused AC Schnitzer Sport springs which should drop her a bit and make her a little less of a boat! After trying to fit them with a mate there were a few bolts that just wouldn't shift and the rear setup takes some playing with to get the springs in and out so I thought It'd be worthwhile getting them fitted at my local BMW specialist at the same time as the bushes (need to get these pressed in).
The only problem so far has been down to the highly stressed cooling system (my e39 540i's went on me aswell) but it was an easy fix with just a pipe having split at the back of the block. £12 from BMW..
I have bought some new mats and changed the air filter with the oil and plugs due to be changed soon. For those wondering about fuel consumption she does weigh in at 1900kg and with a 4.4 and slush box she averages 19-20 mpg but this has been through the cold so am hoping this will improve. On a run she will get closer to 30mpg.
Anyhoo, enough woffling, here's some pics:
