Here you can see the lacquer has peeled on my bonnet, ive got a few tins of clear lacquer in the shed. Can i rub it down slightly and spray on some new lacquer or is it more complicated than that?

Rattle cans are not the best things to use on bonnets. Best to rub the whole bonnet down and use a spray gun.

Coating isn't supposed to peel off like that so must have been shoddy repair work done by previuos owner. If you can see another layer of clear coat, then it should be ok. Also, if you want to use rattle cans, then you will have to build up the laquer, wet sand the whole bonnet down, and use a machine polisher
