Got a replacement cluster for the e34 today and its the wrong one lol
Did a wee bit of research before i bought it. The 2 different articles i read about them said there are 3 types of cluster. Gen 1 grey, gen 2 white and gen 3 blue. The blue ones meant to be from 1990 till the end so i bought that. Theres no mention of a 4th one as mines totally different with a dark grey back and less plugs ( only 2 ) than the other 3.
Realoem didnt help really. Phoned the dealer with the part number and he said the number is not for the whole cluster as theyre just made up of the different parts. He told me to let him know the vin of a donor car and he could then compare it with mine and work out whats what. Ive found a replacement, maybe, and the vin of that seems to match the parts of mine on Realoem.
Ill phone the dealer back tomorrow but i need to be sure about something first if someone can help.
What ive read is that if i take the coding plug from mine and into the new one ill still have the same mileage i got now, does anyone know if that would be right?
The mileage on the donor car is only 60k and mine is 148k so im not buying it if i cant change it to my mileage.
Appreciate any advice about this guys
