First post here - in relation to this car:
BMW e87 - M Sport - 130i - 2006 reg - 5 door
To start with, great car - would highly recommend!
However, I have a slight problem... any help would be really appreciated (please see below).
Description of problem:
After about three months of owning the car, on the motorway and at about 3,000 / 4,000 rpm, the DSC light came up on the dashboard cluster and the engine went into limp mode. Also, the iDrive screen said the following:
"DSC failed! Drive carefully DSC failed. Restricted driving stability when accelerating and cornering. Drive carefully. Have the problem checked by BMW Service as soon as possible."
Had to pull over as no power available, then restart - after which, all fine. However, this has happened again since.
Seems to happen on a motorway at approx. 50+ mph in 4/5/6th gear.
The errors coming up on the system are (read by a BMW dealer - and both occurring at exactly the same mileage) are:
- 2d58 DME: DME, internal fault: monitoring, nominal torque
- 5e19 DSC: Engine management: interface
As far as I can tell, this seems like an intermittent electrical fault on the CAN bus - does this seem like a reasonable conclusion? Happy to be told I am very wrong!
Having visited the BMW dealer and some independent specialists, they have not filled me with confidence that they will properly troubleshoot this intermittent fault. Any advice as to how best to approach this problem / these types of error would be really appreciated.
Many thanks for your help!
