Good evening everyone ,
Hope someone can help me out with this issue .
Recently i had a check engine light. Went down to the stealers as the car was under bmw insured warranty and they told me that the issue should be the egr. They told me that it should be under warranty ,however they wanted another £360 for diagnostic on top of the 1.8k i paid last year for the premium.
Anyway long story short decided to take things into my own hands and register a complain with FOS againts them ,as i found the whole practice unacceptable ( dont wanna go into detail now and bore you to death )
Replaced the Egr , fault went away for 2 days and now the check engine light has appeared again.
After further investigation the following error code shows up :
Swirl Flap,Plausibility Awlrl flap mechanically faulty during deviation learning .
Now i'm not good at technical details , however it is my understanding that engines after 09 dont have the swirl flaps issue anymore ? Am I just "lucky" to do stumble upon this ?
If there are , could i just use backing plates to get rid of my issue ? Will the ecu need reprograming as well if i go this way ?
Got quoted with a local garrage for £220 including vat.
Could someone shed some light on this ? Thanks
