So I have had a problem with my car since buying it where its had a lack of power intermittently. It seemed to go away when the car was left for a short while and i went back to it.
Rather than put a load of money in to a car I've only paid £600 for i decided to get the fault codes read for £20 which came back with boost control/egr valve.
EGR Was fine looked clean but gave it a once over anyway, then we replaced the MAP sensor, the car felt better after that for a short while and then went back to going in to limp mode. The next option was the MAF sensor but due to the cost i decided to try cleaning it with some electrical connection cleaner and this done the trick for a few days and the car was driving great but the fault has now returned.
I can replace the MAF sensor its a pretty quick job but its not the cheapest part and i have seen that you may have to re-programme them which ive never heard of before.
I have attached a picture of my MAF sensor as im trying to figure out a couple of things.
1. Is this an original MAF sensor that would have came with the car as it has only done 118k
2. Could it be that this was replaced from the original and never got re-programmed
3. How do i re-program a new one
4. Is their anyway to see if the fault is down to a faulty sensor or simply that it needs re-programmed?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, and if you have a MAF sensor for this model either from a breaking car or you just happen to have a one you know is working i would be happy to purchase it.
