I recently bought an E60 M5 with a faulty oil level sensor, I decided to undertake the work myself as it is an easy job.
I read that it is simply a plug and play item that once installed would function correctly and cause the error to disappear.
After installing the new part (bought from BMW) the error never dissapeared and actually still pings up when putting the car into ignition.
Took her to BMW for a full service, and they couldnt diagnose anything through their computer, it actually even stopped them from resetting the service light.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I do take dealers advice with a pinch of salt, and am kind of annoyed that I spend £700 on a service, asked them to take a look at it, but as taking off the reinfocement plate (5 bolts) wasn't part of the service they couldnt look into it and that I would need to book it in for further inspection - ridiculous. I even said I would pay the 20 minutes labour to cover the extra time.
Part replaced, old one externally was in top nick, clean connection pins etc. still throws error, BMW cant diagnose it without physical iterrogation- Baffled.
I have searched and searched for anyone else who has experienced this issue to no avail...
Shes booked in at an independant auto electrician for investigation.
