USB phone connector and cig lighter

I have fitted a phone cradle that I made, in to the ashtray of my car. I want to power the cradle but with the usb connecter hard wired to the cig lighter. Can I just solder connect the positive and negative to the cig lighter????

ive soldered another cig lighter to my original then plugged a cig lighter phone charger into that, that way its easier to replace if the cable goes...

Yeah I had a look simon but he has a full plug all taped up . I want to wire the connector behind the plug so it looks like nothing is plugged in to it.
