Can you code an E60 yourself?

Hi i was just wondering is it possible to code the car yourself with a OBD cable and laptop?

I'd like to program my car to fold its mirrors on locking but dont want it that much to pay big dealer prices is there some kit I could get on ebay?

Ive had a look about but I am clueless so dont want to buy anything that will just read diagnostics

    Cheers

    Chris

I believe Inpa or Carsoft will do this, @dailydoggy or @simonsays will know.

tbh I've never tried to program an E60, @NealP mentioned something to me a few months ago about some E60 will code via SSS but the newer ones won't as they use more sophisticated hardware?

Chris is there anyone local with DIS/SSS on their laptop ?

As I mentioned Chris, NealP knows which E60 will & which won't code via laptop.
I didn't mean an indy mate more a fellow enthusiast?

    Hello Chris,
Yes, it's possible. I see that you already have the SA430 mirror package installed, so it's quite a simple job. For this job, i use NCS (New Coding System). You'll need an Ediabas RS232/USB K-Line interface to do it and the software (PM me). With the software and interface correctly installed, the process is as follows:

    FileLoad ProfileFSW-PSWOKF2 ChassisE60OKF6 BackF1 VIN/ZCS/FAF3 ZCS/FA f. ECUCASF6 BackF4 Process CarOKRead ► Now go to C:\NCSEXPER\WORK ► Open PSW_FSW.TRC with Notepad ► Search for BEIKLAPPEN_B_KOMFORTSCHL (Comfort Folding Mirrors) ► Change nicht_aktiv (not active) to aktiv (active) ► Save the file as PSW_FSW.MANF5 Basic Functions coapiReadSgGetFswPswF2 Change JobSG_CODIERENF3 Execute Job

Now when you press and hold the lock button on the fob, the mirrors will fold away.

    Hi FAL

    Cheers for the advice

Could I get the interface cable on ebay and is it hard to get the NCS software?

Tried to PM you there but said it was disabled :(

    Cheers

Yes mate. Just do a search on eBay for "INPA cable" or "Ediabas cable". Key features to look for are twin K-Lines on the interface. The NCS software you can find by doing a Google serach for "BMW Standard Tools".
